As I began to work through the sandbox on the Moodle page I began to see understand why Beth uses this so much in her computer classes. There must be endless classroom uses for the various parts - "storage" of resources and information but also the ability to do tests. I was intrigued by the use of the "forums" (nice to see a curriculum question posted as well as a response by another staff member).
I was able to post a download into the Moodle - Life on a Train. This is one of my favorites (sent to me by LK) - I think it speaks volumes to all of us as we go through life. Speaking of which, I hope you like the pics I've added to my blog. Of course to great dog is Tika - they call the dog "man's best friend" but she certainly could be called "woman's best friend" - she has come to my "defense" more than once while I was walking on the trails at Paden....one can truly feel the love she has for her "mom!" The picture of my mom and me was taken at my family home in MN last summer. The "Memories of my Dad" is a photo taken of a display of his military career my niece did for his memorial sevice. If I haven't shared my dad's book with you, you might enjoy reading it sometime...it really helped me to understand my dad.
Anyway, HUGE thanks to Beth for being such a great teacher for this class. She has been VERY helpful as I have had many, many questions. If I could use this as an evaluation, she'd get a glowing write-up!

I'll take glowing evals any time you want to give them :).
I HAVE found Moodle to be immensely useful in my classes, and I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of all that it can do. But seeing the ways that others have been looking at and thinking about it, I am gaining new perspectives and look forward to trying out new things again this year.
Love the photos, btw...great addition to your blog!
Hey Peg, your pics are wonderful. I was not able to view your powerpoint because I do not have that software on my home computer, but will take a look when I go to school. I tried entering the fraction lessons, but failed miserably. I am not giving up, however. I think I will meet with Beth at school and have her do a SPED type lesson for me-you know one on one. :) I hope you are having a fabulous summer. See you soon. Kerry
Love your blogg...you've spent a lot of time sprucing it up. I might have to come to you for advice on that one! It took me a long time to get "delicious". This course has been challenging for ALL of us :-) Many times I have to walk away for a couple of days and then the next time it becomes crystal clear. It seems I reach a point where my brain is just "full up" and I have to let it all sink in and then I'm ready to go again. You can e-mail me at suzalatte@gmail.com. What's your mail?
Moodle is a great classroom resource. Something we are not doing in the 23 things is forums. The "threaded discussion" aspect (where you can respond to responses and then follow that thread of discussion) is very powerful. One question can lead to many conversations (it's like an upside down tree with all the paths.) With a blow responses are just in order of entry. Not really a "Conversation".
Next I'm looking into Elgg ... like Moodle, but more of a Professional Learning Community device allowing for more free flowing discourse between learners (not so "directed" as Moodle is). They would work together and be one facet of a professional learning community.
