I've often wondered about the effect of changing weather on moods. Does a sunny day help one have a sunny disposition? And, conversely, does a gray day result in a sad, reflective day? How about rainy days...do they cause one to cry a lot (you know rain = tears)?
How about changing seasons...are we different in the winter just because it's cold and we have to bundle up...does that mean we're "hiding away" ourselves? Do we, in essence, hibernate in the winter by being less out-going. Does spring truly rejuvenate us? How about summer...are we better people then because we're more "sunny?" Is my melancholy mood caused by the end of summer and the cloudy days?
Just some thoughts.

I am actually energized by windy, cooler weather. Sunny, hot days overheat me leaving me on the crabby side of life (the reason I rely on air conditioning).
Hence the name, as I recall. I am with Cammy. Leave the sunny weather behind and give me cold and gray most of the year. I can only take so much "sunny" - whether it's dispositions or weather. :)
I wonder if there are any studies on this....
Although I enjoy the sun, I prefer cooler weather. I guess that is why we traded sunny Tucson for Mount Vernon. :) Anyway, I know that Jerry is really affected by the changes in the weather, and his moods seem to mirror the weather. Bummer for both of us :) I think there is a syndrome for what you are describing, SAD (seasonal affect disorder). Just one more disorder to add to my familial list.
In observing others, and experiencing it myself, it seems that it's not so much the specific weather--rainy, sunny, gray, bright,-as it is the continuous day after day of the same type of weather. Rain for weeks, ice cold for weeks, hot or humid for weeks-what do you think?
